How to use the SMS and JAVA application functionality
In order to use the SMS commands or JAVA application, you will first need to have a mobile phone number registered to your CrewCard. To do this, login and go to the Update Cardholder Details page to register your mobile phone. If you are the primary CrewCard holder, and you gave your mobile phone number during the application process, this will be the number registered to your CrewCard.
Once this is done, you will be able to use the following commands with your CrewCard by using the syntax below and sending your SMS to 00447797805281. You will be charged by your mobile phone provider for the cost of the SMS.
Note that the SEND, TOCARD and LOAD commands are only able to be used by the primary cardholder. Any attempt to use these commands by the secondary cardholder will result in an error message.
SMS functionality
LOAD Command
Allows you to load your CrewCard via your credit or debit card, that is pre-registered on the system. The SMS load amount minimum is 1.00 GBP
Syntax:LOAD <pin> <amount>Example: LOAD 1234 500
Note that the amount is expressed in the currency of the CrewCard in pence/US cents/Euro cent. So in the example above 5.00 was sent.
BALANCE Command
Returns your balance.
Syntax:BALANCE <pin>
Example: BALANCE 1234
TOCARD Command
Sends funds from the Primary CrewCard to the Secondary CrewCard, by using the Secondary CrewCard number.
Syntax:TOCARD <pin> <card#> <amount>Example: TOCARD 1234 4444333322221111 1000
Note that the amount is expressed in the currency of the CrewCard in pence/US cents/Euro cent. So in the example above 10.00 was sent.
SEND Command
Sends funds from the Primary CrewCard to the Secondary CrewCard, by using the mobile phone number which is registered to the Secondary CrewCard.
Syntax:SEND <pin> <recipient phone #> <amount> Example: SEND 1234 00447798511234 1500
Note that the amount is expressed in the currency of the CrewCard in pence/US cents/Euro cent. So in the example above 15.00 was sent.
LOCK Command
Temporarily locks the card for ATM and POS transactions.
Syntax:LOCK <pin> Example: LOCK 1234
UNLOCK Command
Unlocks a CrewCard that has been previously locked using the Lock command.
Syntax:UNLOCK <pin> Example: UNLOCK 1234
HELP Command
Returns an SMS message with instructions on how to use the SMS system.
Syntax:HELP
Specific HELP
Returns the syntax for a specific command.
Syntax:HELP <COMMAND> Example: HELP BLOCK returns information on how to use the temporary block function.
JAVA application
In order to download the JAVA application to your phone log in to your account using your primary card details.
Depending on the make and model of the primary cardholder mobile phone, the JAVA application will be stored in either the 'apps' or 'games' folder.
HELP Command
Returns information on how to use the JAVA application.
LOAD Command
Allows you to load your CrewCard via your credit or debit card, that is pre-registered on the system. You have to enter your PIN number and the amount of money you wish to send. The load amount minimum is 1.00 GBP
SEND TO MOBILE Command
Sends funds from the primary CrewCard to the secondary CrewCard, by using the mobile phone number which is registered to the secondary CrewCard. For example to send £100 enter your PIN number, enter secondary cardholder's mobile phone number and the amount to send 100.
Note that the amount is expressed in the currency of the CrewCard in pence/US cents/Euro cent. So in the example above 100 was sent.
SEND TO CARD Command
Sends funds from the primary CrewCard to the secondary CrewCard, by using the secondary CrewCard number.
BALANCE Command
Returns your balance.
LOCK Command
Temporarily locks the card for ATM and POS transactions. To lock your card you have to enter PIN number.
UNLOCK Command
Unlocks a CrewCard that has been previously locked using the Lock command.
How to update your personal information with CrewCard
If you need to update your mobile phone number or email address, you can do this from the logged in area of the website. Simply log in and click on the Edit/Update Details link. If you need to update any other details, please send us a message using the form at our contact page. We will contact you to verify your identity, and then will be able to process any changes you need to make.
